PANMURE GOLF CLUB

You will have heard of the courses in St. Andrews..and without doubt Carnoustie Golf Course, but hidden all around Scotland are many gems that are less known. And in this case, one right on my doorstep. Panmure Golf Club.

Situated between the Courses of Monifieth and Carnoustie on the east coast of Scotland this James Braid influenced Golf Course is approximately 8 miles from Dundee 20 miles from St Andrews and within easy travelling distance of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow

Panmure is one of the oldest golf clubs in the world dating back to 1845, and is one of the twenty six clubs that originally helped purchase the Amateur Championship trophy first played for in 1885!

Ben Hogan famously spent 2 weeks practicing at Panmure in 1953, before going on to win the Open at Carnoustie by 4 shots. He suggested the placement of the green side bunker on the 6th hole, which to this day remains 'Hogans Bunker'.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Panmure and am already planning my return trip.
