Kathmandu Durbar Squares | Visiting Heritage Sites After Surviving Nepal Earthquake | Travel Vlog

This is the story of an Earthquake Survivor. I lived in Nepal for 6 years and on the day when Nepal witnessed the scariest earthquake (25th April, 2015) - I was inside my Apartment on the 14th floor of a high rise building. It shook me to the core or took me more than 2 years to get back to normal me. I recently visited Nepal just with the sole intention to come out of my fear and be courageous again to live in the country as I loved it from the bottom of my heart.

In this vlog, I have visited all the 3 Durbar Squares of Kathmandu Valley. All these three Durbar Squares are also the UNESCO Heritage Sites. Kathmandu valley has three main cities including Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktpur and all the 3 cities have a Durbar Square - a place where the King used to live. Here is a little information about each of these Durbar Squares:

1. Bhaktpur Durbar Square - Bhaktpur lies in the east of Kathmandu city and is famous for its temples and monuments. Bhaktpur Durbar Square is famous for its 55-windows Palace, the actual place where the King used to live. Bhaktpur means the city of devotees and hence you would find many temples surrounding the place. It is also famous for Newari food, handicrafts and JuJu Dahi - a special type of curd which you would get only in Bhaktpur.

2. Patan Durbar Square - This one is in Lalitpur city and is the oldest among all the three Durbar Squares. Patan is also the oldest Buddhist cities in the world. There are also many cool cafes surrounding the place that makes it a perfect for history and food lovers.

3. Kathmandu Durbar Square – This one is also known as Basantpur Durbar Sqaure. There is a famous temple in Basantour called Hanuman Dhoka. You would also get to see the Living Goddess Temple called ‘Kumari Temple’ in this place.
