Ford Escape - How to RECHARGE A/C by Yourself (2008-2012)
Step-by-step guide on recharging ac air condition on your Ford Escape. ( 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 ). A/C recharge kit will cost you $20 - $30, and once you have it all you need for next car a/c recharge is a $5 can or two of a/c refrigerant.
You don't have to pay expensive bill to a shop as you can add refrigerant and charge AC on your escape by yourself. First time it might take you a bit longer, but once you've done it, next summer it will take you less than 5 minutes.
Be careful not to overfill the AC system, as that might damage A/C compressor. Always do it slowly and watch the PSI pressure. Once you are in the yellow/green zone the AC system is fully charged. Before starting recharging the A/C in your ford escape, always check owner's manual to see the charge capacity. If you don't have owner's manual, there should be a sticker under the hood with the A/C capacity. Releasing 1 can of A/C refrigerant will not overfill it.
If you buy A/C Refrigerant with dye included, it will paint where it is leaking if there is a leak. In that case you can buy a can of A/C Stop Leak and fill the AC ford escape system with that. It will take care of small leaks. If there is a bigger leak you will have to visit a licensed mechanical shop.
