4010 is representative of the fact this is a single acting full mortise type spring hinge.
You can see from the swag of the leaf that is intended when it's close to be mortise into the edge of the door and frame.
Single acting, single acting.
The 7 is in reference to the size and the size with Bommer is in a reference to how thick of a door can handle.
So 7" is the overall height of the hinge leaf, 7" is also a direct relation ship to the range of door thickness that this hinge can handle and that would be from 1 3/8" to 2".

I am a fan of all spring hinges because they are not inexpensive.
The problem is you can't mix this hinge with another hinge because the access of pivoting has to be all the same on the spring hinges so that's why the mix will not allow.
If the door are in the border line of the guide line of weight.
In my opinion if you've got three hinges doing the job which of these hinges they gonna share the load much better. The majority of the work done is at the top hinge.
When they are three hinges on a typical 7" door there is better latching in the last 10 degree of the opening.
You can go with a lower quantity of hinges and add an additional hinge if you find out that it is necessary.

This hinge is non handed it can work for a left hand door and it can work for a right hald door.
Setting the tension is very simple.
You gonna get a tension rod you are going to get two tension pins and wood screws.
Tension collars are here, insert your tension rod in one of your holes and rotate it clock wise per the direction that's on the barrel. As you do that you reveal new holes.
You are setting the tension on that spring and then in one into these holes you insert a tension pin.
You gonna do that one the frame side and on the door side.
You can do it upside down as well and then reverse the direction of how you setting the tension collar.
Being a 7" hinge there is a substantial spring in there so be carefully don't hurt yourself in there setting the tension.
