Respighi 'Orgiastic Dance' ('Belkis, Queen of Sheba') - Goetzel conducts

Respighi's mammoth ballet 'Belkis, Queen of Sheba' was performed at La Scala, Milan, in 1932, but due to the enormous forces required, both on stage and in the orchestra pit, it has not been revived since then. So Respighi fashioned a four-movement Orchestral Suite from the score, depicting the union of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba in biblical times. The Suite received its Proms Premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in July 2014. We hear the final section, an Orgiastic Dance, played by the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic under its conductor Sascha Goetzel. ...
