Gas playing a ‘critical role’ in helping back up renewables
Australia Energy Producers Chief Executive Samantha McCulloch says gas plays a “critical role” in terms of helping to back up renewables in power generation.
Ms McCulloch’s comments come as the energy market operator has warned of blackouts this summer as Labor transforms the country into a renewable energy superpower.
“The latest in another long list of warnings about unreliable electricity supply and the need for more investment in gas,” she told Sky News Australia.
“Gas is playing such a critical role in terms of helping to back up renewables in power generation, supporting that shift away from coal.
“Others have been warning of looming shortfalls and the need for more investment.”
