The concept of faster than light travel is quite common in many science fiction universes, the most prominent examples being Star Trek, Orville and Star Wars. But is it possible to travel faster than light for us human beings in reality? It turns out, the scientific research on this field was indeed inspired by its popularity in sci-fi and is going strong since more than two decades. We explore the feasibility and boundaries of the Alcubierre warp drive as well as its further developments by Harold White at NASA.

One thing we certainly know for sure, is that the research on faster than light travel will never stop. For sci-fi fans like us, the federation of planets is a dream that will come true one day!
