Nelson Eddy sings at FDR Inaugural Gala, January 19, 1941

Nelson Eddy sings "The Crown of the Year", "The Blind Ploughman" and "How Do I Love Thee". Radio broadcast live from Constitution Hall at President Franklin D. Roosevelt's 3rd term Inaugural Gala. Some wondered at the choice of Nelson's third number, an emotional love song. His wife was there for the event; however, they arrived in DC that day and she left the following day to return to Los Angeles. Then Jeanette MacDonald cancelled her Pittsburgh concert and instead came to Washington, where she spent two nights.
