290 - More Questions for This Week's Watchtower Study | September 17-23, 2018

This video almost never made it. I never imagined it would have taken so much time to produce. (Wanted to get it up three days ago.)

The Watchtower continues it's mission to get members to avoid people they believe will weaken their faith. There is good reason why the Scriptures do guide persons along that line, but is the organization taking it too far? I share my thoughts from a Biblical perspective.

Secondly, they were pointed back to the giving of the Ten Commandments, and to the first commandment as the background to giving exclusive loyalty to Jehovah. But Geoffrey Jackson recently announced that the Ten Commandments are abolished. How do Witnesses reconcile the two?

Finally, the matter of the refusal of Jehovah to accept Cain's worship is touched. Could it be that Jehovah's Witnesses are actually walking in Cain's footsteps?

WATCHTOWER QUOTATIONS used in this video (outside of this week's study.)

For spiritual Israel, “the law of the Christ” was mainly based on principles inscribed on hearts.

But did not Jehovah give other laws before Moses’ time that branded violators? Yes. Besides those to Abraham, there were such laws as those forbidding the eating of blood and forbidding murder, as given to Noah. (Gen. 9:4-6) Joseph, Abraham’s great-grandson, spoke of sinning against God by committing fornication with his master’s wife. (Gen. 39:7-9) Jehovah kept King Abimelech from sinning against him by ignorantly committing adultery with Abraham’s wife. (Gen. 20:6, 7)

When choosing the descendants of Jacob, or Israel, as his people, one of the laws God gave to them concerning morality is found in the Ten Commandments, which says: “You must not commit adultery.” (Ex. 20:14) This law has never been revoked.
Watchtower - May 15, 1968 p304 par5

The weekly Sabbath day was just one of many sabbaths that the Israelites were commanded to observe.
Watchtower – February 1, 2010, p15

Satan used his “wild beast,” the world political organization then dominated by the British Empire, in an effort to “change times and law,” to put off the time when God’s Kingdom would rule. (Revelation 13:1, 2) He failed. God’s Kingdom was established in heaven, far out of human reach.
Watchtower – November 1, 1993, p9 par11

Hence, the new covenant went into effect at Pentecost 33 C.E. when Jesus’ loyal disciples were anointed with holy spirit.
Watchtower - October 15, 2014, p15 par10
