Liberals owning net migration issue ‘more than Labor’

RedBridge Group Director Simon Welsh says the Liberals are starting to “own” the issue of net migration “more than Labor”.

Mr Welsh’s comments come as the government handed down their federal budget, with both the major parties tackling migration at different levels.

“We’re sort of entering this phase now where our electoral politics is becoming so fragmented that you can’t have a win without a loss,” Mr Welsh told Sky News Australia.

“The stuff that the Liberals have been talking about … plays well in outer suburban electorates.

“The Liberals are starting to own that issue more than Labor.”
