Little Spaces and Several Trials - Kumiko Inui
Lectures, AA XX 100
16 November 2017
The many landscape images collected through research titled "Little Space" present points of view through which the various expressions of the services generated by these spaces can be appreciated. Based on the hypothesis that architectural planning is a kind of "disturbance" for the whole life around the architecture, Kumiko Inui aims to think about a way of valuing spaces and architecture that transcends the distinction made between whether they have been "lived in" or "planned".
Born in Osaka in 1969, Kumiko Inui graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1992 and completed the Master Course at the Yale School of Architecture in 1996. She worked at Jun Aoki and Associates from 1996 to 2000 before establishing the Office of Kumiko Inui in 2000. She now teaches at Y-GSA (Yokohama Graduate School of Architecture). Representative works include Flower Shop H (2009), KYOAI COMMONS (2011). Shichigahama Junior High School(2015). Inui is currently working on a community development project in Nobeoka, Miyazaki and a campus development project for Kyoto City University of Arts with other architects.
