Lecture: Martin Scorsese in Bibliotheca Alexandrina

On Wednesday, 23rd of December 2009, Martin Scorsese, the legendary American Filmmaker, visited the Library of Alexandria, and engaged in a dialogue with Dr. Ismail Serageldin, the Founding Director of the Library of Alexandria, about cinema as an art form, the influences on his art, and some of his favorite films.
Scorsese is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, actor, and film historian. He is the Founder of the World Cinema Foundation and the President of the Film Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to film preservation and the prevention of the decaying of motion picture film stock.
Scorsese is a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for his contributions to the cinema, and has also won numerous prestigious awards, such as the Oscars, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Directors Guild of America.
