2026 National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) Awards

“As President, I do not accept that there should be an uncertain future for our inventors. They have world-changing ideas and…we cannot watch them wither on the vine due to lack of institutional support,” said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the 2026 National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) Awards at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace.

In his speech, the President vowed to provide financial and technical support and to protect Filipino inventors’ intellectual property rights.

Under the Department of Science and Technology – Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI), the competition recognizes outstanding innovators in five (5) major award categories: the Tuklas Award (Outstanding Invention), the Unlad Award (Outstanding Utility Model), the Banghay Award (Outstanding Industrial Design), the Likha Award (Outstanding Creative Research), and the Sibol Award (Outstanding Student Creative Research).

A total of 764 submissions were evaluated, and 28 finalists were selected nationwide. Each invention demonstrates the capacity to address real needs in communities and industries. All awardees are likewise prepared to engage with a broader market.
