They say everything happens for a reason.
They say you don’t get the burn you want but the burn you need.
Metamorphoses starts when you realize that both are true.

My burn started this year with the most amazing gift, I got to play a night till dawn set at Robot Heart. Watching the sun rise while playing the music that I love and putting a smile on so many beautiful souls was the climax of the already insane summer. This set really pumped me up and it got followed by a 3 days in row party with everything that includes.

However on Wednesday late afternoon what needed to happen, happened. After finishing a set I took my e-bike, went full speed on the playa and BOOM! Huge fall, head first, shoulder second and then my whole body (PS: E-bike, excesses and lack of sleep are a very bad combination). Of course, I stood up directly and partied again, but the day after was one of the biggest hangovers I have ever had. I had to go to the hospital, couldn’t move or do anything, I was coming down, tired, depressed, in doubt and didn’t know what to do with myself. I ended up spending 48 hours at my camp, sober, hanging out with friends, sleeping and eating which is something that I actually haven’t done for a very long time.

On Saturday morning when I started feeling better, I decided to go to Robot Heart for a quick listen. I met the Robot Heart family who told me to come hang out on the bus for the Man Burn. I stayed really quiet during the whole day and was at their camp at 7pm sharp. At that moment, Benjamin Alexander comes to me and asks if I had my USB key with me (I did, don’t ask me why, I didn’t have any gigs planned but I took it anyway). He then tells me that the DJ who was supposed to play didn’t make it (it’s burning man, it happens to everybody) and if I was interested in playing the Man Burn. He then explains to me that man burn at Robot Heart is not about making people dance or drawing attention, it’s about creating a cinematic soundtrack for it. I of course said yes, not having any clue about what I was gonna play or even what a cinematic soundtrack to the burn was.

Next thing I know, I’m behind the decks on the love bus, far from the chaos, with a perfect view on the man, I’m playing some downtempo, ambiant, deep, and mostly super emotional music, and then BOOM! Fireworks, looking around me everybody is hugging smiling and living the life the way it should be… few tears are shed… I played the man burn on the Robot Heart bus.

There was something I needed to learn here - life gives me exactly what I need to grow + evolve.
Believe in the power of the playa, believe in yourself.
