Editors don't ruin books! When you choose traditional publishing and work with an editor on your book, don't worry: you as the author retain ultimate creative control.

But, really, those who self-publish and self-publish well do the same/similar developmental edits as traditionally published authors! Both paths involve seriously revising your book. But for some reason there's a serious misconception about traditional publishing that you lose control of your book. Not true!
