CES 2016: Syfy Labs The Expanse Digital Experience

Allison interviews Syfy's Senior VP of Digital, Matthew Chiavelli, about the digital experience they've developed to augment their new TV series, The Expanse. The experience includes 1) adaptively changing your Hue lightbulbs to match the mood and action during the show, 2) giving away simplified versions of the actual 3D models they used in the making of the series, 3) releasing VR video of many of the series scenes for Google Cardboard for Android and iOS and now for Samsung VR, and 4) creating an interactive model of the universe in which The Expanse takes place that allows you to track specific characters by episode, refresh your memory on what happened to them and spin the universe around to track them through time. The setting is the CES 2016 show floor in the Las Vegas Convention Center.
