Hyundai Tucson N Line 2022 (USA) Interior, Exterior & Drive

Hyundai has just added two new models to the Tucson line for 2022. The Tucson N Line and plug-in hybrids offer two very different ways of going at the compact crossover: one loaded with sporting accents the other with an EV range of more than 50 km on a charge.

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson N Line adds a more aggressive appearance inside and out, starting with new fascias and bumpers front and rear, with more air vents up front and a rear diffuser. Black headlamp surrounds, N Line badging, black trim, dual exhaust, and a new rear spoiler along with 19-inch wheels complete the appearance makeover.

N Line
Not to be confused with Hyundai’s performance-oriented N (no “line”) sub-brand, the Tucson N Line adds interior and exterior enhancements to give it a sportier look, but there are no mechanical upgrades to sportify the driving experience.

Outside, the Tucson N Line wears extras such as an N Line-specific grille, front bumper, rear spoiler and badges, along with black headlamp bezels, special 19-inch black alloy wheels, black side mirrors and window surrounds, and dual tailpipes. Exterior colors for the N Line are Ash Black, White Pearl, Titan Gray or Red Crimson, with the red an exclusive color to the N Line.

The N Line starts at the Tucson’s SEL trim with the Convenience Package and adds interior upgrades such as black leather sport seats with cloth inserts, red door and seat stitching, a black headliner, metal pedals and door sill plates, a Bose premium audio system and lots of N Line badges.
It gets the features of the SEL line with Convenience package, but also adds Bose audio, metal pedals and door sill plates, and leather and fabric on sports seats with red accents throughout.

The 2022 Tucson PHEV gets a total of 261 hp thanks to a 1.6L turbo-four (linked to a six-speed auto), electric motors, and a 13.8 kWh battery allowing for a 53 km range. Level 2 charging can top it up in under two hours with 7.2 kW charging, while the AWD model is expected to return 7.8 L/100 km combined, Hyundai said. It will also tow up to 2,000 lbs, for when a small trailer is needed.

Hyundai has also given the Tucson PHEV and hybrid models a new e-handling technology that uses the electric motors to provide torque vectoring. That means better turn-in response and precision as well as improved traction out of corners, which the automaker suggests should add some enjoyment to the driving experience.
