Looking near Vilcabamba for property to qualify for investor visa

Today we heard about a property in Tuminama - a town about 30 min from Vilcabamba, Ecuador that has agricultural potential, and if we wanted to live more remote (which right now we don't), we could build on (and be off-grid... except for fiber internet?!?).

To become an expat in Ecuador, there are several visa options available. The one that makes the most sense for us is the investor visa. We would be using this to qualify for an investor visa - instead of putting $40k into a CD at a local bank (which pays 8-10% interest...so not a bad deal...).

However, we've heard that the return on agriculture is amazing.

Also, we can purchase a property and record it at a higher value (thus paying more taxes, but having the full investor requirement satisfied for less money out of pocket).
