Castlevania II: Simon's Quest - 100% Speedrun in 39:38 [Current World Record]

First sub-40. Not a bad run, but I wouldn't call this stellar either. With the amount of mistakes and insecurities from my part this category could easily go more than one full minute lower. That being said, I'm done pushing this for now, maybe I'll improve it more some time in the future.

That ending was... an experience I'll never forget.

- What's the 100% definition here?
Full inventory: All subweapons, all quest items, upgrade the whip to the maximum level (Flame Whip). Getting to the highest experience level is NOT required.

- What kind of wacky route is this?
It aims to get the best whip money can buy right away which is the Morning Star, as the Flame Whip can only be acquired after said whip. Then it blob boosts, clears Laruba Mansion first, then proceeds to go through all the important quest locations while picking everything up on the road and minimizing detours and backtracking in a satisfactory enough way. This contains most of the major sources of luck within the first 15 minutes of the run (heart farming, blob boost, and Carmilla, the boss of Laruba Mansion) which can be more easily reset over until good luck is achieved.
I think TAS-wise there's a faster route, namely the one used in Burb's former WR run of 41:45, but I'm fairly confident for RTA this route is more consistent, more fun, easier to utilize to its full potential, and overall better.
