Visual Cryptography with Images

#cryptology, #cryptography, #cryptanalysis

This is a short follow up video on the "Visual Cryptography Explained" video, also published on this channel. If you do not yet know, what visual cryptography is, please have a look at it first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqof58skfUc

In this video here, we change from encrypting text to encrypting images. This is easiliy possible by using a FileInput component in CrypTool 2 to load an image (e.g. a png file) and use the "Visual Cryptography" component, to encrypt it into two parts.

Also, I give a short peek on my newest research article "Deciphering three diplomatic letters sent by Maximilian II in 1575". In the future, I want to make one or more videos about the decipherment of Maximilian's ciphertexts. If you are interested in already reading about the decipherment in the Cryptologia article, which is available open-access, please go to: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/01611194.2020.1858370

If you are interested in learning the basics of cryptology, you should also have a look at our video series about basics of cryptology – also for beginners: https://youtu.be/jbumW7Ym03o

You may download the latest version of CrypTool 2 from here: https://www.cryptool.org/en/ct2/downloads
