A panic attack is driven by a sudden surge of fear in the body: racing heart, breathlessness, the feeling that you’re dying.

A meltdown usually builds up from too much input: noise, stress, emotions, until it becomes too much to handle.

One isn’t “worse” than the other, but they need different kinds of support.

✅ During a panic attack, grounding, reassurance, and slowing the body down can help.

✅ During a meltdown, reducing stimulation, creating safety, and allowing space to regulate is often effective.
