Coding with Firebase (real-time maze game)

I recently discovered Firebase https://firebase.google.com, a platform for building app backends - a number of people sent me comments about this (so thanks for pointing this out)! For the longest while, I'd been considering how I might go about building real-time services. Your standard Python/PHP web-stack just isn't quite optimized for this, so I'd looked into languages like Node, Go, and Elixir to support this. But, to my surprise, there is a third option -- Firebase's Firestore. Rather than having to write the code, scale out the servers, monitor usage, and add authentication, Firebase provides all this for you as a service and exposes it through common APIs. So you can build real-time services using any language that you're already familiar with. Firebase also provides a host of other neat tools besides real-time databases, including Machine Learning, file upload & hosting, etc., (And no I'm not even sponsored by Firebase!)
