Sailing and tacking off Malibu beach California,
Started from Marina Del Ray, and cruised up past the Santa Monica Pier, starting getting closer to the beach and its time to make a couple tacks.

Method is simple, im sailing with the auto-helm mostly on days like this, I release the genoa sheet, then turn OFF the auto-helm and turn the wheel about a third rotation to start a fairly quick turn. Its important to hold the sheet tight until the nose passes the wind, this avoids crazy flapping in the wind, and will help push the nose over, as soon as you can, pull the new lee sheet tight and cleat it. bam. push auto-helm button to continue steering about 40degree off the wind.. you have made a tack.. lets try it again.
