Brain Cancer Trial | Stand Up To Cancer
Brain cancer can be particularly difficult to treat because surgeons have to be very careful when removing the tumour.
Cancer cells are hard to tell apart from normal tissue, surgeons will normally remove extra tissue just to make sure. But they're not able to do this so easily when operating on the brain, meaning cancerous cells can be left behind and the tumour can return.
However our scientists have a trick up their sleeve. They are testing a new drug that makes the brain tumour cells glow bright pink and help surgeons remove them.
