Great Britain joined the European Union, or the EU, in 1973. However, in a referendum held on June 23, 2016, the majority of adult Britons voted to leave the EU. On March 29, 2017, the countdown to the United Kingdom formally leaving the EU—an event also known as Brexit—began. Due to the significance of Brexit to the field of international business and economy, this video will briefly review the key events leading up to the EU referendum and discuss the impact of Brexit on Britain.
