This piece is one of my earliest, written when I was 21 or 22 (can't remember exactly). Despite the fact that it is a juvenilia I love this piece with all my heart, because it reflects the passion and respect of a young man wanting to explore the musical traditions of Far East Asia; which years later I did in an ethnomusicology student. The scales found derive from Japanese, Chinese and Indian music; leading in a sensitive or sometimes keen contrapuntal dialogue between the two string instruments.
