Disaccharides: A disaccharide is a sugar that composed of two monosaccharides. It is formed when two sugars are joined together and a molecule of water is eliminated. For example, milk sugar (lactose) is made from glucose and galactose, cane sugar (sucrose) is made of glucose and fructose and maltose is made from two glucose unit.
Trisaccharides: Three monosaccharides unit are joined together. example, Raffinose
Tetrapolysaccharide: Stachyose
Polysaccharides: Storage polysaccharides include starch in Plant & Glycogen in animals whereas structural polysaccharides include cellulose (Plant) and chitin (Animal).
