Titanic Orchestra - Sphinx Waltz (Excerpt)

This video was posted in honor of Wallace Henry Hartley's 145th birthday. Wallace Hartley, who was the bandmaster and first violinist of the RMS Titanic's orchestra, was born on June 2, 1878 in Colne, United Kingdom. The Titanic's orchestra is famous for continuing to play music for passengers while the ship sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912. Hartley and all of the Titanic's musicians died in the sinking. Hartley's body was recovered with his violin case strapped to him, and was buried at Colne Cemetery, Colne, United Kingdom on May 18, 1912.
