Is God letting them get away with it?

Is God letting them get away with it? Where is God when such outrageously evil things happen? (This is worth watching for the audio--it holds up perfectly until the end even after a Youtube glitch makes my image freeze. WHO CARES? The words matter most.)

Correction: It could also be read to mean that as Zechariah died, he cried out, "The Lord look on it and repay!" In this interpretation it wouldn't be the king thumbing his nose at God as I imagined in our discussion today. Instead it would be Zechariah asking God to avenge him, which God does do.

I am thinking that possibly Athaliah's sons broke into the storage rooms of the temple and took the dedicated things offered by the people. Perhaps the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies was not the goal. Perhaps they were stopped before they could get that far.
