Why this Video is Important?
In Digital Communications Signal will be affected by noise than the Bit errors( bit high received as low or vice versa) increases. In order to overcome that we use matched filter which helps in increasing SNR value at the output so that noise power will be less and bit errors will be reduced thereby improving the reliability of the information.

Real Life Applications:
The matched filter has a wide range of applications in radar and sonar for signal detection. If we change the shape of the pulse in a specially-designed way, the signal-to-noise ratio and the distance resolution can be even improved after matched filtering: this is a technique known as pulse compression.
Explanation:
In any Communication System, the input to the receiver is nothing but a signal added with noise. In Digital Communication after receiving bits they have to be compared with the threshold value to determine whether a bit is high or low. Matched filter improves the signal to noise ratio of the output signal before going to the threshold comparator. After that bits are decoded and samples are obtained and when samples are obtained a simple low pass filter is used to reconstruct the original message signal.
