Kaghan Valley is a beautiful valley of Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which is world renowned for its natural beauty. Many well-known entertainment and beautiful places in the northern regions of Pakistan are located in this valley. The devastating earthquake that occurred on October 8, 2005 also damaged this valley. Kaghan Valley got its name from the town called Kaghan. Kunhar River flows through the heart of this valley. The valley rises from 2134 meters to 4173 meters above the sea level and extends over 155 km. The population here knows Pashto and Urdu very well. The area is dotted with forests and pastures and the beautiful views make it heaven on earth. There are also high peaks up to 17 thousand feet. Among which Makda Choti and Queen Parbat are famous. This valley of mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, springs and glaciers awaits tourists in summer (May to September). The maximum temperature here in May is 11 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is 3 degrees Celsius. From mid-July to the end of September, the route from Naran to Babusar Pass is open. Transportation in the valley becomes difficult during monsoons and winters. This beautiful valley can be easily accessed from Balakot, Abbottabad and Mansehra. From Balakot one can easily reach Kaghan or Naran by buses or other means of transport. All the way from Balakot to Naran, the river Kunhar flows along and the beautiful forests and mountains offer a treat. The beautiful towns of Kiwai, Paras, Shino, (Ochri) Jared and Mahandari are also visited on the way.
وادی کاغان، ضلع مانسہرہ، خیبر پختونخوا کی ایک حسین وادی ہے جو اپنے قدرتی حسن کے باعث عالمگیر شہرت کی حامل ہے۔ پاکستان کے شمالی علاقوں میں واقع کئی معروف تفریحی و حسین مقامات اسی وادی میں واقع ہیں۔ 8 اکتوبر 2005ء کو آنے والے تباہ کن زلزلے سے اس وادی کو بھی نقصان پہنچایا۔ وادی کاغان کا نام کاغان نامی قصبے سے پڑا۔ دریائے کنہار اس وادی کے قلب میں بہتا ہے۔ یہ وادی 2134 میٹر سے درۂ بابوسر تک سطح سمندر سے 4173 میٹر تک بلند ہے اور 155 کلومیٹر پر پھیلی ہوئی ہے۔ یہاں کی آبادی پشتو اور اردو بخوبی جانتی ہے۔ یہ علاقہ جنگلات اور چراہ گاہوں سے اٹا ہوا ہے اور خوبصورت نظارے اس کو زمین پر جنت بناتے ہیں۔ یہاں 17 ہزار فٹ تک بلند چوٹیاں بھی واقع ہیں۔ جن میں مکڑا چوٹی اور ملکہ پربت شہرت کی حامل ہیں۔ پہاڑوں، ندی نالوں، جھیلوں، آبشاروں، چشموں اور گلیشیئروں کی یہ وادی موسم گرما (مئی تا ستمبر) میں سیاحوں کی منتظر رہتی ہے۔ مئی میں یہاں کا زیادہ سے زیادہ درجۂ حرارت 11 اور کم از کم 3 درجہ سینٹی گریڈ رہتا ہے۔ جولائی کے وسط سے ستمبر کے آحتتام تک ناران سے درۂ بابوسر کا رستہ کھلا رہتا ہے۔ برسات اور موسم سرما میں وادی میں نقل و حمل مشکل ہو جاتی ہے۔ اس حسین وادی تک بالاکوٹ، ایبٹ آباد اور مانسہرہ سے باآسانی رسائی حاصل کی جا سکتی ہے۔ بالاکوٹ سے با آسانی بسوں یا دیگر ذرائع نقل و حمل سے کاغان یا ناران پہنچا جا سکتا ہے۔ بالاکوٹ سے ناران تک کے تمام راستے میں دریائے کنہار ساتھ ساتھ بہتا رہتا ہے اور حسین جنگلات اور پہاڑ دعوت نظارہ دیتے رہتے ہیں۔ راستے میں کیوائی، پارس، شینو،(اوچری) جرید اور مہانڈری کے حسین قصبات بھی آتے ہیں۔
