A thank you from a grateful client who was found not guilty at trial

A video from a grateful client thanking me for my commitment to his case, and to his innocence. The video is particularly interesting as it provides an insight into how insecure clients feel having to put their future in the hands of a barrister. It also reminds me of the truly existential difference lawyers make to the clients we represent. This client says that he had retained other barristers before me but that no one believed in his case, let alone his innocence. In truth, it does not matter what we believe as counsel so long as we believe in the principle that everyone is entitled to a defence and a lawyer who commits body and soul to advancing that defence, trusting in a jury to come to the right verdict.
