There is little known about the life of Tacko Fall before he moved from Dakar, Senegal to the United States at the age of 16. During his time in Senegal, he played mostly soccer and showed little interest in basketball.

Upon arrival to the United States Tacko Fall lived with Ben Simmons for one year in Houston, Texas and played for his first organized basketball school team there as a sophomore. He trained with Simmons and NBA Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon.

Fall then transferred to the Tavares Liberty Christian Prep team in Florida and as a Junior viral in 2014 he went viral. He averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks for the Lions (11-15).

But the problem with Tacko was that he was extremely raw. There was no doubt that he would play college ball, because of his 7-5 height, and 8ft wingspan. But he had only started playing basketball 2 years ago. This left him in a situation similar to Giannis Antetokounmpo. Being extremely raw but having insane physical attributes.

As a senior in 2015 Tacko Fall scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds a game despite only playing in 8 games. And he even maintained a 4.0 GPA.15-14

Of course a player with Tacko’s height and athletic ability had scholarship offers from many D1 schools including UCF, Georgetown, Florida, Florida State, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest.

Surprisingly Tacko chose to commit to the UCF knights, a program that has only reached the NCAA tournament 4 times. Where he is currently the tallest college basketball player in the United States, standing 7-foot-6 with an eight-foot wingspan. Fall wears a size-22 shoe, the same as Shaquille O'Neal. To put that in perspective the NBA's tallest player is Boban Marjanovic who plays on the Detroit Pistons and stands 7-3, 3 inches shorter than Tacko.

In 2016 as as freshman in college Tacko Fall averaged 7.5 points and 4 rebounds to go along with 3 blocks a game. But the UCF Knights still finished with a 12-18 record, the same as the previous year.

But in 2017 the UCF Knights improved and so did Tacko, under a new coach the UCF record improved to 24-12 just missing out on the NCAA tournament. And Tacko improved his stats to 11 points 9.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks a game. And was named as American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

On April 5, Fall decided to test his name for the 2017 NBA Draft, with the possibility of returning to Central Florida still available to him before the end of the draft lottery that year. But only a month and a half later on May 24, 2017, Fall withdrew his name from consideration for the NBA Draft, to return to UCF for his junior year.

In the 11 games the UCF knights have played this season Tacko has only played in 8 and started in 7 due to injury. Tacko has averaged 12.3 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks a game in 21.6 minutes a game, lower than his 26.3 total last year. Tacko is also shooting 76% higher than his absurd 73% average and the Knights are 8-3 first in the AAC and being serious candidates for the NCAA tournament.

Tacko’s future in basketball in unclear. He stated that he would rather be an engineer than be a NBA player, and that he would rather be Steve Jobs than Lebron James. If he was to pursue a career in Basketball it is unknown how well he would do, why he still is a Junior and there is still this season he isn’t projected to get drafted by major sites including nbadraft.net, sports illustrated, and draftexpress.com.
