The 1986 FBI Miami shootout occurred on April 11, 1986, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, U.S., when a small group of field agents for the FBI attempted to apprehend William Russell Matix and Michael Lee Platt, who were suspected of committing a series of violent crimes in and around the Miami metropolitan area. The duo had committed at least 7 armored truck and bank robberies in the Miami area.

The C-1 Miami FBI Bank Robbery Squad were perplexed by the idea of two individuals so actively operating in the area without allegiance or subset. Thus birthing an 18 month long investigation.. But all would come to an end on April 11th 1986- after agents stumbled upon the suspects vehicle. A 1979 Black Monte Carlo.
