I’ve long been claiming that you could seamlessly snip the infamous Zurich 80 Kashmir flub out of the song and you’d never know the difference and still have an excellent performance of the song left over. Well I finally decided to put my money where my mouth is and make this myself. It was actually even easier than I thought it would be, as Bonzo seamlessly plays the next section of the song that everyone else skipped accidentally. The only evidence left over of the flub is Plant saying “That’s better!” once they’re back on track. What we’re left with may as well be a whole new performance of Kashmir in 1980!

I included White Summer because I’ve always been a defender of this piece in the latter days. The only actually bad 1980 performances of White Summer are Cologne, Mannheim 7/2, and Berlin 7/7. Unfortunately so many know just the Berlin performance cuz it’s the last show plus it’s the longest latter days WS ever and it’s such an utter trainwreck that its colored peoples perception of the song for the whole tour. This one here in Zurich is one of the best ones of the tour and one of the longer ones too.

It wasn’t enough for me to simply trim out the flub but I also made this into a bona fide matrix to get the most out of these recordings. This should sound very different from the old bluecongo matrix from way back when. Unfortunately the SBD cuts out a little over halfway thru Kashmir so just the audience source takes over for the rest of the track. I tried to make it sound as good as possible to compensate for this.
