"The police produced Harinder Singh and Parminder Singh before a magistrate, claiming to have arrested them after an encounter and asked for their remand to police custody. Harinder Singh’s family produced copies of telegrams sent to various authorities after the police had abducted the boys over a month earlier to argue that the police claim of arresting the boys following an encounter was false. The magistrate, however, refused to admit their submissions and granted the police remand.
