We begin with an overview of the social and political situation at the time of the Whitechapel murders before moving on to discuss whether the victims actually were, in fact, prostitutes, or whether they were victims of Victorian society itself.

We then come to the case of Annie Chapman as Jason assesses the viability of the various witnesses whose sighting of her at various times between 4.am and 5.30 am on the morning of Saturday the 8th of September, 1888, led the coroner, Wynne Edwin Baxter to place her time of death at a later hour than the Divisional Police Surgeon, Dr. George Bagster Phillips estimated it to have been.

All in all, this is an illuminating discussion that looks at the social conditions in the area at the time; explores the political and economic situation in the country - and particularly in the East End of London - and attempts to shed some light on the reliability of witness accounts.
