Big Trouble in Little China (1986), directed by John Carpenter, is a cult classic fantasy-action-comedy that follows Jack Burton (Kurt Russell), a swaggering, fast-talking truck driver who gets pulled into a mystical, high-stakes battle in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Along with Wang, the mystical sorcerer Egg Shen (Victor Wong), and plucky reporter Gracie Law (Kim Cattrall)—who is also kidnapped for her green eyes—Jack navigates a, supernatural labyrinth beneath the streets, battling bizarre monsters and the Three Storms, Lo Pan’s invincible elemental henchmen: Thunder, Rain, and Lightning.
Throughout the chaos, Jack often finds himself in over his head, with his bravado vastly outmatching his skills, acting more as a comedic sidekick to the far more competent martial artist, Wang Chi. Despite this, Jack’s blind luck and "all in the reflexes" mentality come through in the final, dramatic showdown, where he accidentally manages to kill Lo Pan by throwing a knife into his forehead, breaking the curse and saving his friends.
Ultimately, the film is a fast-paced blend of martial arts, supernatural fantasy, and 80s comedy that was initially a commercial failure but later gained immense popularity as a cult classic for its inventive story and memorable characters.
