Tariffs Explained: Free Trade Make the U.S. Richer, But Not Everyone Wins. | Who's Shalise? Ep. 25

We talk about free trade like it's always a good thing, and in many ways, it is. The country gets richer, businesses grow, prices drop. But here's the part we skip too often: not everyone wins. When jobs move overseas or wages shrink, economists say the "winners" should compensate the "losers." That's the theory, but it almost never happens.

So when people push back on trade, they're not anti-economics. They're living the downside of globalization.

That's where tariffs come in. They sound like a fix: "protect American jobs!", but they're really just band-aids on much deeper problems.

In this video, I explain how trade actually works (with a wobbly couch story you'll probably related to), why tariffs raise prices for everyone, and why free trade still matters, even if it doesn't feel fair to everyone right now.

If you've ever wondered why people fight about tariffs, or if free trade is "good" or ""bad," this one's for you.

I'm Shalise Ayromloo. Thank you for coming closer to the center.
