Death at Tough Mudder - Outside Magazine

On April 20, 2013, at the Mid-Atlantic Tough Mudder in West Virginia, Avishek Sengupta drowned at the Walk the Plank obstacle, becoming the first person to die from injuries sustained at a Tough Mudder event. Participants caught first-hand footage of Avishek's jump and the failed rescue attempt, which we compiled here.

Tough Mudder denies fault, but Avishek Sengupta's family is currently preparing legal action against Tough Mudder for gross negligence, claiming that Tough Mudder failed to implement adequate crowd control and life-guarding protocols, making an effective rescue impossible and contributing to Avishek's death.
