📜 The Standing Panel of Hesy-Ra – Chief of Scribes in the Old Kingdom

This wooden acacia panel depicts Hesy-Ra, one of the most important officials of King Djoser (3rd Dynasty, Old Kingdom).

👁️ Unlike his first famous panel, this one breaks the usual artistic pattern by showing a different set of insignias and scribal tools, symbols of his high status.
Above the scene, his prestigious titles are inscribed, confirming his role as Chief of Scribes of the King and a leading figure of early Egyptian administration.

🔍 Discovered by Auguste Mariette in Saqqara, this masterpiece is carved from acacia wood — a rare survival from over 4,600 years ago — and is now preserved at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
