.410 Pyrodex Shotshell Loads

In this video I go over how I hand load .410 shells with Pyrodex black powder substitute. This is a very simple process and can be done at home, or at camp out on the plains, with just a few common tools. These loads typically will ONLY work is single shot, double barrel, or bolt action shotguns, and NOT recommended for use in pump or semi-auto shotguns. Common sense and safety is needed for this as you are dealing with explosives. Please wear eye protection if you attempt this yourself!!!

Tools needed are as follows:
1. Hammer (or similar substitute)
2. 1/4" bit driver at least 3.5" long
3. T30 Torx bit
4. 6mm nut driver bit (optional)
5. Small block of wood with a drilled 3/8" hole and a 5/8" hole drilled 3/4"
into the top of the 3/8" hole so that you have a stepped hole.
6. 7/16" Grade 8 flat washer and 1/2" x 3.5" black pipe nipple (if brass
resizing is needed.)
7. 3/8" x 6" wood dowel.
8. 1/4" punch (if using plastic shot cups.)
9. Some type of powder measuring device.
10. Scale or shot dipper for measuring shot.

Supplies you'll need:
1. Spent shotshells
2. 209 shotshell primers
3. Black powder or suitable substitute, 2F or 3F (I used Pyrodex P.)
4. Plastic shot cups (optional.)
5. Cotton cleaning patches or shot patches or shot wads
6. Lead shot, 6-9 shot works best for .410.
7. Beeswax candle or chunk of beeswax.
