1899 Edison Concert Phonograph #57 Playing Cylinder "Schultz Goes Hunting With Grover Cleveland"
Here is the earliest Edison Concert Phonograph (of three that I own) from my collection and the earliest Edison Concert Phonograph that I'm aware of. It is serial number 57.
This Edison Concert was converted by the original owner to play standard size cylinders and was also upgraded with 2/4 minute gearing, a Cygnet Horn, and a rarely found large opening Edison Concert conversion carriage that will accommodate an Edison O reproducer.
The cylinder I am playing is a really scarce one to find: "Schultz Goes Hunting With Grover Cleveland" by Frank Kennedy (The Dutch Philosopher), a comic monologue.
If you wish to skip past my description intro to listen only to the cylinder playing just move the video timer to about the 7 minute mark. I enjoy providing background information in my videos so if you opt to watch please feel free to watch however you wish. Thanks.

I've also included the entire spoken monologue from the cylinder below. I hope that a few of you will enjoy the video.

“Schultz Goes Hunting With Grover Cleveland” by Frank Kennedy The Dutch Philosopher, Edison Record
Did I told you ‘bout me and Grover Cleveland?
You seem surprised when I say me and Grover…
I want you to understand I’m seldom seen with him
But last week he said “Schultz, let’s go out hunting”
We started out and I had a pint bottle in my inside pocket and every time we shot anything we took a drink
Every time we missed anything we’d take 2 drinks
After missing several shots we commenced to feel kinda tired and Grover said let’s take a sleep
So we both laid down by the trunk of a tree by a mud puddle in the center of the middle of the woods
The minute we laid down we fell asleep and I started a dream
I dreamt I went up to heaven
Oh it’s only a dream
I thought I knocked on the golden gates and St Peter came to the door and he says what do you want?
I says I want to come in
He says where did you come from?
I says from New York
He says come in quick you’re the first one from the town ( implying no one has yet made it to heaven from New York 😊)
This is a dream you know
He showed me all around and he took me into a large room where there was millions of small lamps each lamp burning brightly
I says what is the meaning of all these lamps?
He says each represents a life on earth when a lamp goes out that man dies
Well I commenced to get scared I says where is my lamp
He showed me my lamp flickering pretty near out
I says where is Teddy Roosevelt’s lamp?
And right next to mine was Teddys lamp
He had a flame 50 foot high - he’ll never die.
Just then St Peter left the room and an idea struck me
I said Roosevelt’s an old friend of mine he won’t care if I take a little of his oil and live longer
I went to pick up Teddy’s lamp to pour into mine and what do you think
Every lamp was nailed to the floor
I was in a terrible pickle I didn’t have more than an inch of oil to live
Another idea struck me - I unscrew the top of my lamp and Teddys lamp
I dip my finger in the oil in Teddys lamp and squeeze it off into mine
Kept this up for about 10 minutes
All of a sudden I get a slap in the face and I woke up and what do ya suppose I was doing
I was sticking my finger in the mud puddle and squeezin it off into Cleveland’s ear.
