Backyard Football (GameCube) Gameplay

EDIT: It seems this video is getting overrun by trolls for some reason, with people getting directed to this video and being completely unaware on why I record and upload games obscure games like this (heck, most haven't even read the description to realize I never even said this game was any good). If y'all want to complain how I'm not playing Madden, there are plenty of Madden videos to go around, and I suggest you go waste your time watching those instead of writing your intelligence-lacking comments here.

How long has it been since I last made one of these?

This is one of only two console exclusive Backyard Sports games to ever exist (the other being Basketball PS2, and not counting the watered down GBA and DS versions). It was also the first 3D Backyard title ever made, as early as 2002. As such, it's a really...interesting one. It's a really strange hybrid of the late 2D games and the early 3D games. Much of the simplicity from the 2D games remains in here (as in no extras or lists of unlockables), and in fact it borrows heavily from Backyard Football 2002, right down to the exact same music. However, the 3D character designs make their debut here and we also get the first instance of a Football title giving us a vertical viewpoint of the field instead of horizontal.

So...that all said, is the game any good? No, not really. It feels like a pretty bland and generic football game for kids rather than a Backyard game. It's got some of the series' original charm, but it's lackluster in most areas and pretty forgettable in fact. It also uses the Audio Godz voices which...if you ever read my MobyGames review series on these games, you know I don't have a lot of nice things to say about them (at least this time it was in a game that didn't feel quite as much like a stale rehash. Also, this time we didn't have Lani Minella playing both announcers, thank all that is good). Still, it's cool seeing this odd hybrid of the classic and the late games, and it's far from the worst Backyard game I've ever played (to give it credit, at least it was more entertaining than Football 2006).

And...yes, I know I'm terrible at this game. I was pretty underpracticed for this though I at least still managed to win. Meh, I think I showed what you wanted to see anyway. Enjoy.
