This Puzzle's Opening Logic Will Astonish You

After yesterday's incredible puzzle by Jesper (which you must try!), we didn't think for a moment we'd see anything comparable for some time... but TotallyNormalCat has produced another sudoku that is completely stunning. It's called Lake Trip and you can play it here:

Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply. In cages, digits must sum to the small clue in the top left corner of the cage. Digits cannot repeat in a cage. Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in that arrow’s circled cell. Along thermometers, digits must increase from the bulb end.
