"History Takes Flight: First Airplane Passenger Carried Successfully by American Aviator"

HAMMONDSPORT, NEW YORK — A bold new chapter in human flight was written today as the world witnessed its first successful airplane flight carrying a passenger. Aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss lifted off from a field near Keuka Lake, taking mechanic Charles Furnas along for a brief but historic ride in the White Wing, his experimental aircraft.

The event marks the first time a powered airplane has carried a passenger in the United States, and possibly the world.
