「消失的王者」是東森電視台於2020年最新推出的系列紀錄片，由榮獲兩屆電視金鐘獎的節目團隊〈聚焦全世界〉製作，籌畫三年，拍攝兩年，以地球豐富的棲息生態作為拍攝場景，紀錄地球上最珍貴、卻即將消失的瀕危物種，探討這些攸關生態健康的關鍵物種，當牠們在日益嚴重的氣候變遷與人類活動下，瀕臨滅絕時，人類將承擔何種後果？
〈首部曲：沙漠雄獅〉描述在地球上最古老的沙漠-納米比沙漠，鮮少有生物能存活，但竟然有一小群珍稀的物種，而且神秘生存了好幾個世紀！
牠們是沙漠獅！不同於一般非洲草原的獅子，牠們有著超出人類想像的生存智慧！ 但因為人類獵殺，地球僅剩下130-150隻，近乎滅絕！
榮獲兩屆電視金鐘獎的主持人舒夢蘭，帶領攝影團隊深入納米比沙漠，在國際知名的科學家、英國劍橋博士 Philip Stander, PhD菲利普•斯坦德博士帶領下，追蹤珍貴稀有的沙漠獅群，更全球獨家完整紀錄沙漠獅群聯盟作戰，成功捕獵鴕鳥的珍貴畫面！
但人類的足跡不斷入侵，原本稀有的沙漠獅子如何在危機中求生存，成了牠們最大的挑戰。

“Vanishing Kings” is a Taiwanese nature documentary series made for EBC. The series is narrated and produced by Meng-Lan (Claire) Su, who also created the award-winning series Earth Focus and is awarded the Golden Bell Awards 49th and 53th by the Ministry of Culture in Taiwan.
The three episodes series focus on keystone species and the environment in three different eco systems, desert, Savanna and the rainforest.
“Lions of the Namib Desert” is the episode of the Vanishing Kings documentary series. It uncovers the secret lives of a small population of desert-adapted lions which occurs only in the oldest desert on our planet, the Namib.
This is one of the world’s most remarkable conservation stories – the desert-lion conservation project that turned into one man’s life-long dedication. This man is Dr Philip Stander.
This episode celebrates the highly adaptive nature of one of our planet's most iconic predators which continues to battle for survival in today's world.
