Ford AC Check - Gauge Readings
AC check performed on a 2000 Ford Expedition by a Master Tech, DennisB. Adding refrigerant to a system that does NOT need it can decrease the efficiency. For that reason, before just adding Freon it's best to see what the readings are to see if it needs it. Other causes of a system not cooling well can be the recirculate door which closes when the AC is set to MAX could be malfunctioning, the condenser fan may not work if it's electric or the fan clutch, if mechanical may be worn. The system could even be overcharged already. See the following page for typical car or truck air coditioning gauge readings explained. http://www.denlorstools.com/autoblog/2009/04/adding-freon-to-car-ac-gauge-readings-explained/2/
