Long Lost Charlton Heston Interview (October 1972)

Here is a candid 1972 interview with actor Charlton Heston that has never been heard in public before until now and has remained hidden for 44 years after it was banned and never published.

In October 1972 British journalist Keith Howes was on holiday in America with his boyfriend Carl when he managed to score an interview with actor Charlton Heston at MGM Studios on the set of the film Soylent Green. Keith brought his boyfriend along and recorded the interview on tape with Charlton Heston so he could write an article based on the interview for Britain's She Magazine.

However, the editor banned the article and refused to publish it on the grounds that it was too depressing and too scary. She was worried that the views of Charlton Heston would frighten and alarm the publication's readers. Eventually the article appeared in a much shortened form as part of a review of Soylent Green in New Scientist.

Keith Howes discusses the interview here and shares his memories about Charlton Heston https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sT9SBMOaow
