The Recipe Corner:-
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Chop onions in two different ways: finely chopped for the potato mixture and thinly sliced to be used later for garnishing
Chop a cucumber into small pieces to be used as a fresh topping
Ensure you have boiled potatoes ready for the side dish
Step 2: Make the Aloo Bharta (Mashed Potatoes)
Sauté the chopped onions in a pan until they turn a "golden pink" or golden brown color
Take the boiled potatoes and mash them thoroughly (the creator refers to this as making a "keema" of the potatoes)
Mix the mashed potatoes with the sautéed onions and add salt to taste
For a better presentation, shape the potato mixture into small round balls (laddoos)
Step 3: Assemble the Pakhala Bhaat
The base of the dish is rice mixed with water
Place the prepared potato balls into the serving bowl with the rice
Add a generous amount of curd (yogurt) to the bowl to enhance the health benefits and flavor
Step 4: Garnish and Serve
Decorate the dish by topping it with the sliced onions and chopped cucumbers you prepared earlier
Taste the dish and add more salt if necessary before serving
